Terrin Durfey, R.I.P.

The planet lost an incredibly beautiful person today. Local musician Terrin Durfey, who played in such notable and influential San Diego bands (Boilermaker, Pinback) lost his fight against cancer this morning. Terrin was one of the first people I met in San Diego.  We later went on to work together (BLR released the last Boilermaker album) and even became roommates. We lived together for about a year and during that time, he proposed to Adrienne. Terrin was always such an awesome guy, with a great uplifting spirit and infectious smile. He was an incredible musician, Star Wars fanboy and lover of life. Terrin, you will definitely be missed.

Chairlift is the new black

Not surprising, a band from Brooklyn, with the soundtrack to the latest iPod commercial has emerged as the most hyped band to come out of this year’s CMJ New Music Festival. Get your fill of Chairlift because renting a small closet in Brooklyn won’t be in their future much longer.

Cassette Closet

ISO50 found this rather unique, Dutch-designed closet covered entirely in cassette tapes.

Can I get a t?

This T could stand for any number of things. Tuna, trampoline, turnkey, tough, trick, tic or tac. However, designer Daniel Eatock has a love of typography so this T represents one of his favorite fonts, strangely one that doesn’t start with a T but rather the style it appears in.

Spot On Impersonations

Do sports impersonations get any better than Frank Caliendo ?

Tweeting Terrorists

Apparently, the U.S. Army Intelligence is concerned that terrorists might use micro-blogging, mega popular platform Twitter to coordinate attacks. Damn, what’s next: Sarah Palin runs for President?!
