Levi’s x Ace Hotel Palm Springs Collaboration

My favorite getaway spot, Ace Hotel has partnered with Levi Strauss & Co. for Suite 501, a brand-themed room at its Palm Springs location and as luck would have it I’m typing this from three doors down. The room is intended to feel as comfortable as slipping on your favorite pair of 501s. It features “a denim upholstered headboard, Levi’s pillowcases and artwork from Levi’s most recent campaign, shot by Ryan McGinley. The vibe matches the hotel’s chic campground aesthetic; canvas covered walls, salvaged furniture and portable record player in every suite.” If you’re in town, drop a tweet and let’s have some beers in the Amigo Room. The utopia of visual art

Counter Print says they’re dedicated to the promotion and sale of art and design related material. However, I think they should just call it total bliss. Their selection is ridiculous, better yet ridonculous. Filled with out of print or hard to find gems, if this site doesn’t turn you on then we shouldn’t be friends.

Chuck Norris was here

At first I’d be pissed but then I’d be pissed laughing. Hilariousness via High Definite.

For those who love music + film

The first time I heard Noah and the Whale, I was immediately hooked. It’s hard not to like a band with a name that instantly makes me smile, and to top it off, their music is equal parts indie and pop – just how I like it. Now they’re ready to push the envelope by introducing a new album through moving images. “The First Days of Spring” is a film and album so distinctly sharp, witty and romantic, there’s no doubt in my mind these boys are doing exactly what they’re meant to be doing and it absolutely blows my mind (and ears). Brilliant is an understatement. Hey bands, can we please have more of this?

Do you smell your sneakers when you take them off?

The Hundreds dropped their fall footwear collection and if you don’t already smell your sneakers when you take them off, you will. Lots of great colorways on simple canvases make me optimistic this Fall is going to be the best yet. Check out more pics and styles on the always epic High Snobiety.

Sustainably harvested wood gorilla is mad legit

Clean and simple design blogs are a thing of beauty and Objection hits the mark. Who knew I’d fall so hard for a gorilla but the toy’s made from sustainably harvested beech wood. His elastic-band muscles and wood limbs make him almost impervious to breakage, which is good because he falls a lot due to his fear of heights. Oh damn. Available on Kid Robot.

Mentoring students for the benefit of others

Thanks to my buddy Josh for introducing me to Ambrose, a design and screen printing studio focused on mentoring students to produce excellent work for the benefit of others. Does it get any better than that? I think not. These young stunners from Holland inspire me to turn up the music and bring more positive action into the world. What are you prepared to do for others?
