It’s hip to be square

Yep, all you 1950′s teenagers that are now dying geriatrics heard me right: it’s hip to be square. If you’re a watch that is (gotcha, being square’s still lame). This new chronograph design called the r5.5 from Swiss watchmaker Rado looks wicked sleek, and I’m loving the black face with white hands. More images at Style Crave.

Balloon Boy, Kanye West and Lady Gaga walk into a bar…

Balloon Boy, Kanye West and Lady Gaga Walk into a bar. Bartender says, “Hey, wait a second — how old is that kid? You can’t bring a kid in here!” Lady Gaga says nothing and just tries to keep a poker face, but you can tell she’s pissed that the kid is getting all the attention. Kanye West says, “Yo Bartender, Imma let you finish, but …” — but then the bartender, fumbling with his cellphone, says, “Actually, hold that thought, I’ve gotta get a TwitPic of this!” First, though, he starts to tweet “Balloon Boy, Kanye West and La” — but before he can finish, I grab the phone out of his hands and smash it to the ground while screaming, “Stop it!! For the love of God, just STOP IT!!” [LOL via AdAge]

Treasure Island Music Festival – Day 1

Just sat down after an exciting Day 1 at Treasure Island Music Festival. The fantastic 65 degree weather with sunshine had everyone in great spirits, including the musicians who were noticeably happy to be there. I was impressed with the live shows by Passion Pit and The Streets. Dan Deacon’s group interpretative dance, dance circles and human tunnel were great fun. And Girl Talk did his thing by pumping up the crowd bigtime before setting off an impressive array of fireworks. If the music wasn’t enough, there were also an entertaining number of other activities including a lounge area, street performers, and giant motorized cupcakes. Bring on Day 2!

Wonderfully simple photography

There’s something very rare and impressive about a photographer who can capture the human condition and the everyday in a beautiful way. Grant Ernhart seems to have that ability. His photographs remind me of the Harmony Korine film Gummo and give me the same combination of upset stomach and unending fascination. Check out more at My Love For You.
