The Beatles juice boxes

Super clever juice box design featuring The Beatles. You’ve got John Lemon, Apple McCartney, George Pearrison and Mango Starr. I love these yeah yeah yeah.

Let’s take this opportunity to have some dude time.

There are few things as awesome as a solid night with your dudes. Pizza, video games, shit-talkin’ and sports typically come into play.  So does drinking beer in koozies and talking about girls. Yup, this is dude time and Missouri designer Ben Chlapek wants to spruce up your man-cave. Get some at Society 6.

Behold! The disappearing bike, for cyclists lacking space

Living in San Francisco, I am blessed with an apartment in an old, transformed Victorian mansion. Unfortunately, that means we have those infamous “railroad” hallways that run about three feet wide. With two avid bikers living in such a small space, it’s an obstacle course to get from the front door to the kitchen without tripping over tires, bike helmets, and locks. If only my roommates had a Thinbike, the love child of Treehugger founder Graham Hill and German bike makers Schindelhauer. With fancy attachments like the “Speedlifter Twist” (it allows the handlebars to be positioned sideways), the Thinbike’s width is reduced from 22’’ to a mere 8’’ wide. Just think of what you could do with all that extra hallway space! Ideas include having a dance party, playing double-dutch jump rope, or creating an indoor water slide. Not to mention that the white design juxtaposed against your wall will almost make it look like an art installation instead of a bike.

Good vibes and high fives with ReForm School

At Holiday Matinee, high fives are our hustle, so we were stoked when the ReForm School ladies asked us to join in the fun at their free high five booth last weekend. The Sunset Junction Street Fair has been dishing out tons of live music, interesting people watching, serious day drinking, and typical festival booths for 30 years. Since Billie and Tootie’s crafty retail store is right in the middle of the madness on Sunset Boulevard, they decided to do something a little different this year.

We set up camp early and went to work saving lives with high fives and bringing smiles to hundreds of faces. Our goal was 1,000 high fives, but by the end of the day, 1,321 skins had been slapped. It was funny to see people ignoring us like cell phone peddlers at the mall, but once they realized what we were “selling,” they quickly rushed over for a five or two. Even the coolest hipster or grumpiest grandpa couldn’t escape our powerful pull. I don’t blame them, who can resist a gesture that’s guaranteed to make your day?

Our booth reminded us of a lemonade stand, so we asked folks to help us stir up some “Awesome Lemonade.” The ingredients were simple: tell us something awesome you learned or saw today. A few of the answers were pretty hilarious, and you can see them here along with a bunch of other action shots from our fun-filled day. Hooray for high fives!

Why color in books when you can color on a dress?

The colour-in dress is a baby pushed through the imagination canal by Berber Soepboer (responsible for the concept and design) and Michiel Schuurman (responsible for the textile design). It combines my childhood hobby and textile construction to create a lovey garment that you can purchase in a size that fits you. I wouldn’t buy the dress to wear it, but I’d love to color it in. Super cute embroidery meets Edward Sharpe and The Smiths

Kimberly Scola has a knack for handcrafting indie rock song lyrics into embroidered treasures. I met the traveling artist at Renegade LA and was immediately smitten with her work. Anyone who creatively re-purposes Edward Sharpe and Smiths lyrics into art is a winner in my book. Peep her online shop or blog to get your fix.

Handmade footwear for he who wants what no one else has

I’m totally drooling over these elk suede kicks by Australia’s FEIT. They’re appropriately named The Superclean and come in four colorways. Only catch, they’re making just 15 pairs so you better get a move on. If you’re lucky enough to score a pair, you not only get braggin’ rights but get to sport kicks that no one else has. It’s a win win! Pre-order here or check out more images at LimitedHype.
