A party to celebrate intensity, individuality and creativity

By now you know we’re all for having fun and raising money for good causes – at the same time if possible. So between that and all the rad costumes that are going to be there, we had to spread the word about this year’s Intense Individual Party at San Diego’s Brick by Brick on January 29th. The party celebrates intensity, individuality, creativity and all you gotta do is come dressed as an intense individual. Tickets are $20 at the door and proceeds benefit will benefit the LA chapter of Dave Eggers’ writing and tutoring non-profit 826. This has awesome written all over it so the only question left is who I’m going to go as. RSVP and find all the details here.

What happens when geeks get decorating?

This pillow. It was inspired by the top ten Google searches from last year, and while I don’t want the Biebs anywhere near my couch, perhaps you do. It’s got me wondering all sorts of things like “wait, people actually search for Facebook?” and “what the hell is MocoSpace?” but that’s the beauty of this gem. If you’re craving more strolls down memory lane, check out elasticCo.’s shop for four other years of keyword bliss. We’re only two weeks into 2011, but I’m predicting “Verizon iPhone,” “new zodiac signs” and “Holiday Matinee is awesome” will be gracing next year’s cushion. OK, maybe not the first two. It’s okay to judge a book by its cover (sometimes)

Biblioholism: n. [BIBLIO + HOLISM] book, of books: the habitual longing to purchase, read, store, admire and consume books in excess.

Well, that just about sums me up. You can imagine my excitement when I first laid eyes on the Barnes & Noble Leatherbound Classics series. If these book covers were candy, I’d be poppin’ them all day.

Things Real People Don’t Say About Advertising

This is why I love Tumblr.

Do Tell: Dennis Rodman

Dennis Rodman is and always will be someone who fascinates me. Yeah, he’s probably the greatest rebounder in the history of the NBA, but what I envy even more is that he doesn’t give a damn what people think and does things his way. Admittedly it does get him into trouble now and then, but I think it’s something all creatives can embrace at some level because a free spirit can accomplish a lot. I knew it’d be a long shot to interview the guy, but he was awesome enough to dish on what he’s been up to and two things he’s excited about these days. Oh and Dennis, we are totally going to blog about some better hats you might want to pick up.

What’s Keeping Him Busy:

Being me. Spending time with friends and family and helping my friend raffle his house to raise money for a homeless shelter drug treatment center.

What He’s Excited About:

1) Doing my celebrity DJ thing. I’ve played St. Tropez, Ibiza, Tokyo and all over the USA.

2) Being me. I live by the notion that everyone should be themselves. I’ll be me, and you be you. Just be happy in your own skin and love life.

Guys are so easy to shop for.

Distressed black t-shirt and analog gear?! Dude, are you fucking kidding me? Sold. (Damn we’re easy to please.)

Cure your post-holiday depression with one last video

The holiday season might be officially over, but I can’t get over this video — a prank that a few guys pulled on their friend involving a ton of gift wrap and a great sense of humor. Yeah, yeah, the amount of paper involved might be a tad bit wasteful, but you have to admit that these pictures are priceless. Let the planning for 2011′s Christmas prank begin…
