Bad email: Just don’t bother writing it
Ever get an bad email where you’re not sure if it’s a robot or a real person? An email that has detailed contact info, but seems like a cut + paste job? Normally I send them straight to the cyber-abyss where they belong, but recently I responded to one constructively, hoping that just maybe I can help them. Here’s what they wrote in and how I responded.

I didn’t receive any response back and perhaps this person was pissed or just a mass email to begin with. What it is, however, is a great reminder to educate yourself about who you’re writing. Make them understand YOU GET THEM. Whether it’s a sales pitch or just saying hi to someone you think is really awesome, you’ve gotta take the time to do this. Otherwise you’re just wasting your time.
