Pina: Emotion, without words.

It’s not often a film comes by and randomly knocks me off my feet, but Pina was so fantastic I had to share. A beautiful soundtrack and gorgeous set design weaves together with an interesting, albeit bizarre, narrative for an exploration into the physical nature of our lives. Incredibly aesthetically pleasing, the power of detail really shines through. For example, amidst an entirely black and grey scene, a hint of pink pops through in the form of a dancer’s high heels. You can watch one of my favorite scenes below, but I recommend you go ahead and rent the film. And yes, that’s really a floating tram in the scene. Called the Wuppertal Schwebebah, in Wuppertal, Germany. So even if you don’t like dance, I promise there’ll be something to intrigue you in this film.
