Better than a butterscotch sundae: Wes Anderson minimalist posters

Wes Anderson is known for his meticulous attention to detail, so these minimalist posters inspired by his film’s finer points are spot-on. Our bud David Klinker from O&P designed one for each of Anderson’s eight motion pictures, and they’re better than a butterscotch sundae. The 18×24″ prints will be typeset in Akzidenz-Grotesk Medium, silkscreened on recycled Speckletone, and produced under 100% hydropower at a Niles, Michigan paper company. Cuss yeah!

Need one for your wall? Bring them to life by backing the Swiss Anderson project on Kickstarter. It just launched today and is (not surprisingly) well on its way to the $1,500 funding goal. Get dibs on an awesome print before they cancel Latin!

My neighborhood guide to San Diego

Perfect weather, amazing tacos, terrible sports teams and home to both Top Gun and Anchorman. It’s hard not to love San Diego. I spent 12 incredible years in America’s Finest City and jump on every chance I get to head back west. In honor of Holiday Matinee’s 15-year anniversary and San Diego being our birthplace, here’s 15 sure as shit favorite spots not-to-miss, available via web or a pdf to print out.

Retiree chic shuffleboard goodness in the heart of Brooklyn

With ten shuffleboard courts, Floridian cocktails, live music & a rotating cast of food trucks, I’m thrilled to be an investor in The Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club. Two years in the making, doors are officially open and league nights are in full swing (watch out for The Flamingo Kids!). The 17,000 square-foot Palm Beach themed (think geriatric) oasis in Gowanus was conceived by the dynamic duo of Ashley Albert and Jonathan Schnapp. The space is truly magical and even if you’re non-committal on the league, there’s plenty of booze for cheerleaders and lane rentals are available throughout the week and weekend. So, come take a load off and prepare for your golden years.

The ultimate guide to Social Media Week 2014. #SMWNYC

Social Media Week explores how technology is changing the way we connect and communicate. I’ve known founder, Toby Daniels for years and we’ve often talked about how we want to evolve the conference experience. In 2012, I did just that by fostering a partnership between MKG and SMW. This gave MKG the ability to flex it’s agency muscles (design, production, operations, digital) at the annual event. Today kicks off our 2nd year as partners and I couldn’t be more excited to flip the traditional conference model on it’s head. We’ll be calling Highline Stages our campus for the next five days and hope you’ll join us for hundreds of workshops, classes, talks and interactive experiences. We’ve got co-working and charging stations to keep you plugged in and food vendors to fill your belly. Plus, keynotes from Seth Godin, Robin Chase and Julia Kaganskiy. Kick-off your mornings with yoga classes or coding workshops. Discover the future of retail from PSFK or the future of music from Spotify. And if all that wasn’t enough, come join a session I’ll be hosting on mobile innovation with founders of WeJetSet, Kill Screen, Warby Parker and more. Shit’s gonna be dope. And yeah, since there are hundreds of ridiculously amazing sessions to choose from, I did the homework for you and highlighted a few of my faves here.

My neighborhood guide to Brooklyn

Brooklyn is my home. I live in a former rubber stamp building that’s nestled between several of my favorite neighborhoods: Boerum Hill, Downtown Brooklyn, Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens and Brooklyn Heights. Seven major subway lines are just a few short blocks away. So is the Barclays Center, where I’m counting down the days before the NY Islanders call it home. Everything you need is in walking distance, everything delivers and everything about this neighborhood is just my speed. I’ve really fallen in love with this part of Brooklyn and with the help of Jauntful, I created a personal (printable) guide with a few of my favorites just for you. Enjoy!
