We are all dumber for having listened to this

I’m a huge fan of anything Ricky Gervais, so much so that I’m not really even sure what I like best anymore – The OG UK Office, Extras, his vulgar standup or podcasts that attempt to discuss serious subjects and end up as mindless drivel. Lucky for me, he’s kept the podcasts with Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington going – the latest of which is a guide to the World Cup. Here’s an excerpt, and if you fancy what you hear you can catch it all on Pilkipedia.

Let’s take a trip back in time

I’m not sure how I missed something this awesome, but my buddy Rob just sent me a link to Andy Gray’s SI Vault Twitter feed. It’s the funniest collection of pro athlete photos I’ve ever seen. This could seriously keep me entertained for hours.

Ricky doesn’t have to run anymore

I’ve always respected Ricky Williams for having the courage to live his life the way he wants, and it irritated me that he was hated by many people for not fitting the mold of a professional football jock. So when I got a chance to check out the recent ESPN 30 for 30 documentary on his life, I was really happy to see his story done justice. He’s not a perfect man, but the San Diego native definitely raises valid questions about what’s really crazy to prioritize in life. If you want the full scoop on perhaps the most fascinating professional athlete today, I suggest you check it out. He really is an artist in a world of regiment.

LT’s got a new style

I’m sure that by now many of you have seen LaDainian Tomlinson’s hilarious electric glide video that was originally masterminded by Nike two summers ago. First Leroy Smith, now this! All I have to say is that Nike knows its audience well and stays hip to pop culture. The timing was great, coinciding with the Chargers 2010 playoff run and I really can’t wait to see everyone boogieing in the stands on Sunday.

Team USA scores gold!

In what I can only describe as the best sport you’re not watching, Team USA took Gold defeating Canada last night in the World Juniors Championship of Hockey. It was a HUGE upset and a game that was filled with non-stop excitement. Everyone’s got a thing and for me, it’s hockey. Congrats to the boys in red white & blue and I hope this paves the way for Team USA next month in Vancouver!
