The best mini-series you’re not watching

Brick City is the best thing to happen to television since The Wire. It’s a five-part documentary series that captures the daily drama of a community striving to become a better, safer, stronger place to live. The subject matter is Newark, New Jersey and against great odds, Newark’s citizens and its Mayor, Cory A. Booker, as they fight to raise the city out of nearly a half century of violence, poverty and corruption. I feel a little biased as I grew up in Jersey and spent a great deal of time in Newark. There’s no denying Cory Booker’s ambitious and heartfelt drive could make him a strong contender for future political chairs (i.e. white house). He’s got my vote.
