Even though a storm struck just prior, Day 3 had better weather with a mix of sun and clouds. Festival goers were extremely friendly, shared everything and I ran into Ice Cream Man. Someone even bought me a beer for alerting them to their dropped drink tickets. It’s just what happens when you have a stacked lineup and everyone is enjoying themselves. My bill for the day had a distinct summer vibe to it with Best Coast, Washed Out, Local Natives, Here We Go Magic, Neon Indian and Sleigh Bells. All were fun, and Sleigh Bells really knows how to rock crowds, but Neon Indian really did it for me. They straight killed it with great energy, amazing sound and took my vote for favorite act of Pitchfork 2010.
Once again, Pitchfork Music Festival was very well organized. Ample bathrooms, tons of food options from local vendors, and an indie rock flea market to be envied. Organizers managed to keep everything affordable and the only unfortunate change was that Heineken outbid local craft brewery Goose Island for exclusive beer rights. Get out to this event next year and don’t let a little travel prevent you from doing so.
