Bulldog Drummond is an office I’d like to live in

The offices of Bulldog Drummond look exactly like someone’s really awesome house that you would envy. It also happens to be located right here where I live (in San Diego)! Bulldog Drummond is an innovation and design consultancy whose clients have included Starbucks, Nike, Disney, Adidas, and many more.

At the core of success is what the consultancy calls “Uncommon Sense,” which is a term they use to describe that opportunities can be realized, and complex challenges can be solved by using simplicity and determination. From the looks of it, their Victorian house-turned-office space exemplifies this Uncommon Sense sentiment very well. The space is stylish and sharp, but it’s not complicated. It’s also the perfect marriage between classic British style and California flair.

I don’t know about you, but looking at this office space gives me the taste of cake in my mouth.

The Catverse is expanding

I don’t know what rate the universe is expanding, but the catverse can’t be far behind. Thankfully, there are folks like our own Catrina Dulay that also have good taste in design. Catrina’s new shop Catrina and Mouse was born out of the belief that cat charm shouldn’t be confined to the web and internet memes. It’s for prints and stationery too! Cat lovers and design-minded people, this shop’s for you.

Jon Stich painted David Hasselhoff with plastic soda rings. That’s all.

This David Hasselhoff painting by Jon Stich is fabulous beyond words. I just discovered it ten minutes ago and it was so important that I had to share my thoughts about it right away. In fact, I don’t even have thoughts about it. I just want you to know that it exists and I’m hoping that it remains in your memory forever. I mean, just look at it.

This masterpiece is also available as a print from Etsy, so I definitely plan on breaking my no-luxuries rule and purchasing a copy as soon as possible. The silliness of it aside, it also addresses the issue with pollution.

Minimalism is simple?

Saw this poster a few weeks ago on Grant Snider’s INCIDENTAL COMICS and can’t stop thinking about it. Everybody’s talking about simplicity these days. In fact, not a day goes by when I don’t hear someone mention “minimal” or “post-minimal” – or something of the sort.

I love how this poster illustrates that minimalism, in spite of what its name denotes, isn’t actually as simple as you’d like it to be. Similar to what Steve Jobs once said: “Simple can be harder than complex. You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple.”
