Go outside. Shut the door.

Feeling a bit lost? Seeking inspiration, but don’t know where to turn? Look no further. And no. This isn’t some late night TV infomercial. Brian Eno has got your back.

Back in ’75, he created The Oblique Strategies, a deck of cards that offers bite-sized advice we can follow when we find ourselves in a rut. Apparently he made them for when he suffered panic in the studio. A few of my favorites below, a sample of the full deck from Darren Lock below.

  • Try faking it!
  • Don’t be frightened of cliches.
  • Trust in the you of now.
  • Repetition is a form of change.
  • Cut a vital connection.
  • Remember those quiet evenings.

Hat tip to Open Culture for the discovery.
