While most are celebrating fall foliage and pumpkin spiced lattes, lovers of Indian summer like me are just glad we have Treasure Island Music Festival (Oct. 19 + 20) to look forward to. It’s strange, but any semblance of a summer in San Francisco takes place sporadically during September and October, making it the perfect time for a music festival.
TIMF has been one of my favorites over the past five years – traditionally great lineups, no overlapping of sets and breathtaking sunsets over the city skyline. Not to mention that it’s never too packed, has a ferris wheel and silent disco. Also, who could forget this glorious moment in 2009? It always features more of an indie lineup that doesn’t cater to the mainstream.
Go to enough shows and you’ve surely seen some acts before, but this year I’m personally really looking forward to Antwon, Poolside, Cayucas, Lord Huron and James Blake. I suppose Beck’s not a terrible way to close out your weekend either (heavy dose of sarcasm).
There are still two and single-day tickets available so make those plans, preferably with friends that want to take a boat over to the island. Yes, that’s entirely possible if the free shuttle or automobile just isn’t your thing.
